The Symposium is being held in partnership with IDLO and UNDP. Present at the Symposium was the Director Kenya Judiciary Academy Justice Dr. Smokin Wanjala SCJ, Hon. JSC Commissioners and the RMC Hon. Caroline Kabucho. Small Claims Courts, established in April 2021, are a critical component in realizing the Judiciary’s vision, STAJ. They provide a forum where disputes of a modest nature, valued at less than Kshs. 1M, can be resolved expeditiously and simply. SCC makes justice accessible to all, within 60 days. Of 60,000 cases filed, over 50,000 have been completed, resulting in release of funds back to the economy. It has broken down barriers such as hefty court fees, complex procedures, and delays, it provides a beacon of hope.
